What is Sandustry?
Sandustry is a falling-sand factory automation game by Lantto Games, published by Hooded Horse. Every pixel of its fully destructible world is an individually simulated resource: ice melts into water, water boils into steam, and lava cools into stone — and all of it can be pumped, sifted and refined by your machines.
You dig downward, wire conveyors, filters, pipes and drones into an ever-growing factory, and uncover the vaults and artifacts of an ancient civilization. Critics describe it as the automation of Factorio inside the 2D pixel world of Terraria, with detours compared to Noita's labyrinths. After a demo that drew over 100,000 players, the full game entered Early Access in August 2026 — day one on PC Game Pass.

Frequently asked
Is Sandustry multiplayer?
Officially no — the game ships single-player only. The community mod SandTogether on the Steam Workshop adds up to 4-player co-op over internet or LAN, streaming sand, fluids and factories live between players. The developer has not announced official co-op plans.
Is Sandustry on Game Pass?
Yes — it arrived on PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate on day one, August 13, 2026, as a Game Preview title. It is PC only; there is no Xbox console version.
Do demo saves carry over to the full game?
No. The developer has said transfers don't make sense: the demo map is fixed and lacks most of the game's content. Expect to start fresh — and expect modders to close the gap eventually.
Is Sandustry safe? I read something about malware.
The game itself is clean — it's sold on Steam, GOG and the Microsoft Store, and included in PC Game Pass. The malware worry comes from shady third-party download portals repackaging the old free demo. Get the demo from Steam or the developer's own itch.io page and nowhere else.
How long until the full release?
The developer plans roughly one year in Early Access, which would put 1.0 around late 2027. The roadmap names additional buildings, resources, production chains, quests, biomes and technologies, plus refined procedural generation.
